Ascent Property Management • Feb 01, 2023

San Diego is a high-demand city for home buyers and renters. The median rent across our city comes in at $3,200 (for all bedroom/property types) and San Diego is the 8th largest city in the United States. Not to mention, our economy features a mix of international trade, manufacturing, military, and tourism.

So, how did our rental market stack up against the rest of California?

Most Competitive Rental Markets in California in 2022

According to RentCafe, San Diego was the second most competitive rental market in California.

"San Diego came in second, with a total score of 82.6. Notably, this location attracted more interest from renters than California’s hottest market, as an average of 22 renters competed for one apartment here in 2022. And, with 97% of its apartments occupied and more than 55% of renters deciding to renew their leases, it’s no wonder that it ranked so high in our competitivity list." - RentCafe

Overall, 53% of San Diego households are renter occupied. San Diego not only ranked 2nd in California but America's Finest City also placed 13th nationwide

As Earth Day approaches, it's the perfect time to consider making eco-friendly updates to your rental property. Not only do these updates contribute to a healthier planet, but they can also save you some money in the long run! Energy-Efficient Lighting One of the simplest yet most impactful eco-friendly updates you can make is replacing traditional incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient LED bulbs. LED bulbs consume significantly less energy and last longer than incandescent bulbs, resulting in lower electricity bills and reduced environmental impact. Additionally, consider installing motion sensors or timers to automatically turn off lights when not in use, further conserving energy.
